About

Hotel Vienna

Hotel Vienna is a small, family-run 3-star hotel on Via Astolfo, in Milan's Lambrate district. It offers 23 rooms, a range of simple amenities, and a location that prioritises transport links over city-centre glamour. The hotel sits within a 1-minute walk of Lambrate metro and train station, making it a practical base for exploring Milan without the central hotel price tag.

Guests consistently describe the hotel as clean, comfortable, and run by attentive staff. Rooms come with practical touches like safes, work desks, and central heating, and some have air conditioning (for a fee). In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Exceptional transport links — Lambrate metro and train station are about a 1-minute walk away, with quick connections to the central station and Duomo.
  • Helpful and friendly staff — Guests repeatedly mention attentive service, including proactive problem-solving (e.g., fixing a bathroom smell while the guest was out).
  • Clean and comfortable rooms — Rooms are described as clean, modern, and simple, with amenities like safes, work desks, and central heating.
  • Good value for money — Affordable prices for the location and basic comfort, making it a practical choice for budget-conscious travellers.

Worth weighing

5 to weigh
  • No pets allowed — The hotel has a strict no-pets policy, which may be a drawback for travellers with animals.
  • Extra charges for basic services — Air conditioning costs €5 per day, and the continental breakfast is an additional paid extra (around €4 per person). Some guests found this surprising.
  • Limited English spoken by staff — Several guests noted that staff members have limited English proficiency, which could pose a challenge for non-Italian speakers.
  • Some rooms may have maintenance issues — A few guests reported problems like a non-working refrigerator or overhead light, which may require a request to fix.
  • Outskirts location — The hotel is on the edge of the city, so reaching central attractions like the Duomo takes about 15 minutes by metro. Some may find this less central than expected.

“We stayed three nights and had a really good experience. The room had everything needed, and the shower and bathroom were good too, with a window and bidet in some rooms. Our windows faced the street, but it was still quiet, just the sounds of Milan waking up in the morning. Lots of small cafes, bakeries, and pizzerias around. The location was excellent—Lambrate train and subway just 100 metres away, Central Station in 5 minutes, Duomo Piazza in 15. It's not a superb 5-star, but who needs that when in Italy? Would definitely come back.”

“Our room had a safe box, central heating, and a work desk—so convenient.”

“Very good location near the metro station and one of the smaller train stations.”
